Jean Cocteau directed this unusual mixture of the real and unreal, as the personification of Orpheus (Jean Marais) finds himself pursued by Death in the form of a strange, beautiful woman (María Casares) driving a Rolls Royce. Orpheus’ obsession leads him to venture into the world of the dead through a strange mirrored portal. François Périer, Marie Déa co-star in this poetic updating of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice, the second film in Cocteau’s Orphic Trilogy. 95 min. Standard; Soundtrack: French PCM mono; Subtitles: English; audio commentary; bonus shorts; featurettes; interviews; newsreel footage; photo gallery; theatrical trailer. Also includes the documentary "Jean Cocteau: Autobiography of an Unknown" (1985). In French with English subtitles. Two-disc set.
