Outpost in Morocco is a 1949 action adventure film starring George Raft and Marie Windsor. The production company got permission to actually film in Morocco using the real Foreign Legion. The production company spent nearly five months filming battle scenes and chases in Morocco, utilizing a total of 85,000 feet of film. Spahi Captain Paul Gerard (George Raft) is assigned to lead a patrol to the city of Bel-Rashad en route to a French Foreign Legion fort. Gerard is to escort the Emir's daughter, Cara (Marie Windsor), who has been studying in France. During their ten-day journey Gerard and Cara fall in love, but Gerard must report back to the Legion fort and his executive officer. One night at the Legion outpost, a sentry is shot by a sniper. Gerard infiltrates Bel-Rashad, discovering the locals are being armed with modern Mauser rifles. Gerard makes his escape and informs headquarters of these new developments. He leads a strong patrol back to the fort and discovers that the fort has been destroyed and all the Legionnaires are dead. Gerard orders a raid of Bel-Rashad in retaliation to capture the Emir. The Emir is out rallying the tribes, but Lt. Glysko (Akim Tamiroff) brings Cara back as a hostage. The Emir lays siege to the Legion fort, but Gerard is able to fend them off. Eventually, landmines are planted along the route the Emir will use to attack the fort. Cara becomes caught up in this attack and approaches the landmines which Gerard has ordered to be placed along the road to the fort. Gerard must make an agonizing decision to stop the Emir and his tribesmen from destroying the Legion's fort. But what will Gerard decide to do since Cara's life is also involved? This is a real nail-biter of a film and will keep you anxious about it's ending all the way through.
