William Bendix was crusty Civil War veteran-turned-stagecoach driver Frederick Thomas Kelley and Doug McClure played his brash young assistant, Frank "Flip" Flippen, in this short-lived NBC western that found the pair protecting their passengers on the Missouri-to-California trek from the perils of the frontier.
