A New Kind Of Love (1963)
Cheeky romantic yarn stars Paul Newman as Steve Sherman, an American reporter sent into exile by his boss to cover a Paris fashion show. On the same flight as Steve is flaky and frumpy fashion buyer Samantha Blake (Joanne Woodward), who's got more time for hems and linings than she does l’amour. But when Steve mistakes Sam for a lady of the evening and tries to land her for a story, sparks will fly. Maurice Chevalier, Thelma Ritter, Eva Gabor also star. 110 min. C/Rtg: NR
Hud (1963)
Director Martin Ritt’s powerfully charged drama stars Paul Newman as Hud Bannon, the ill-disposed and irresponsible son of Texas rancher Homer (Best Supporting Actor-winner Melvyn Douglas), who’s caught between the traditional ideals of his father and the lack of principles in the New West. Brandon deWilde co-stars as Hud’s nephew Lonnie, who’s split on which man to bestow his loyalty. With Best Actress-winner Patricia Neal; based on Larry McMurtry’s novel "Horseman, Pass By." 111 min. BW/Rtg: NR
Fat Man And Little Boy (1989)
This stirring historical drama stars Paul Newman as General Leslie R. Groves, the U.S. Army officer who oversaw the Manhattan Project. In New Mexico in the early 1940s, Groves supervised a team of civilian scientists charged with building the world's first atomic weapons, eventually leading to the construction to two bombs dubbed "Fat Man" and "Little Boy." Dwight Schultz, Laura Dern, John Cusack, Bonnie Bedelia co-star. 126 min. C/Rtg: PG-13
Nobody's Fool (1994)
Based on the novel by Richard Russo, this wonderfully realized mix of comedy and drama depicting life in a small New York town features Paul Newman as Donald "Sully" Sullivan, a cantankerous ex-construction worker and village ne'er-do-well. Sully must confront the emptiness of his life while reconnecting with his estranged son (Dylan Walsh) and getting to know his young grandson (Alexander Goodwin). Jessica Tandy, Melanie Griffith, Gene Saks, and Bruce Willis also star. 110 min. C/Rtg: R
Twilight (1998)
Retired private investigator Harry Ross (Paul Newman) reluctantly agrees to assist his two movie star friends Catherine (Susan Sarandon) and Jack Ames (Gene Hackman) when they are blackmailed by someone from their past. However, as he gets entangled in a complicated and lethal murder plot, Ross' own past may come back to haunt him. Director Robert Benton's moody whodunit also stars James Garner, Reese Witherspoon. 96 min. C/Rtg: R
Road To Perdition (2002)
Director Sam Mendes' powerful drama of Irish-American gangsters in early '30s Illinois stars Tom Hanks as Michael Sullivan, veteran hit man for mob boss John Rooney (Paul Newman). When Michael's oldest son witnesses a murder in which his father and Rooney's hot-tempered own son (Daniel Craig) are involved, a series of terrible circumstances sends the two Sullivans on the lam, with a hired killer (Jude Law) on their trail. With Tyler Hoechlin, Jennifer Jason Leigh. 117 min. C/Rtg: R
