This documentary on the birth of pro basketball in Philadelphia traces the success of two early Quaker City cage squads. The mostly Jewish SPHAs, named after the South Philadelphia Hebrew Association, dominated the pre-NBA American Basketball League, winning seven titles from 1933-1949. SPHAs owner Eddie Gottlieb would later serve as coach for the NBA's Philadelphia Warriors, who boasted such stars as Paul Arizin, Tom Gola, and Wilt Chamberlain before moving to San Francisco in 1962.
