Even in the in-your-face milieu of the emergent '70s British punk rock scene, mixed-race X-Ray Spex frontwoman Marianne Joan Elliott-Said--b/k/a Poly Styrene--stood out. This documentary reflection co-directed and co-scripted by her daughter, Celeste Bell, offers copious archival performance footage as she comes to terms with her mother's legacy, their long estrangement, and the mental and physical health challenges that plagued the performer until her premature passage in 2011. 96 min.
