Psycho (1960)
Arguably Alfred Hitchcock's most popular film, this classic chiller, based on Robert Bloch's novel, is still making people terrified of showers. On the run after stealing $40,000 from her boss, secretary Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) has a fateful encounter with creepy mama's-boy hotel clerk Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins). Just what is Norman's sinister secret? And whatever happened to Mrs. Bates? With Vera Miles, John Gavin, Martin Balsam; score by Bernard Herrmann. 109 min. BW/Rtg: NR
Psycho II (1983)
Norman Bates is back in the shocking follow-up to Hitchcock's classic thriller. Released from a mental hospital after 22 years, Norman (Anthony Perkins) returns to the Bates family mansion where he's tormented by memories of his "mother." And when the murders start up again, Norman is the obvious suspect. But is he really to blame? Co-stars Vera Miles, Meg Tilly, Robert Loggia, and Dennis Franz star. 113 min. C/Rtg: R
Psycho III (1986)
Anthony Perkins directed and stars in this second sequel to Alfred Hitchcock's chiller. After re-opening the Bates Motel and hiring a brutally misogynistic assistant, Norman befriends a former nun (who eerily resembles shower victim Marion Crane) while dodging a journalist seeking to report on his past murders. But when he begins hearing his mother's voice, his delicate grip on reality once again starts slipping away. With Diana Scarwid, Jeff Fahey, Roberta Maxwell. 93 min. C/Rtg: R
Psycho IV: The Beginning (1990)
A supposedly cured Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins) is married and expecting a baby, but still worries that he’ll pass his mental illness on to his unborn child. Seeking closure, Bates calls a radio talk show and relates the story of his troubled childhood. Henry Thomas stars as teenaged Norman, and Olivia Hussey is his mother Norma, whose strange behavior bizarre relationship with her son drove the young man to murder. With CCH Pounder, Warren Frost, Donna Mitchell, and John Landis. 96 min. C/Rtg: R
Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital mono, French Dolby Digital mono, Spanish Dolby Digital stereo; Subtitles: English (SDH), French, Spanish; theatrical trailers; newsreel footage; featurettes; poster gallery.
