In a 19th-century Sicilian village, childhood friends Angela (Valeria Solarino) and Sara (Isabella Ragonese) are reunited and enter into a forbidden romance. The relationship forces Angela's parents to come up with a novel solution: Have the Church declare her to be a man and allow "Angelo" to live in "his" new role. Moving drama, based on a true story, co-stars Ennio Fantastichini, Giselda Volodi. AKA: "The Sea Purple," "Viola di Mare." 105 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: Italian; Subtitles: English. In Italian with English subtitles.
