This lavish 15th-century historical romance follows the exploits of Scottish knight Quentin Durward (Robert Taylor), who travels to France to see the bride-to-be arranged for his elderly uncle (Ernest Thesiger). When he meets the beautiful Isabelle, Countess of Marcroy (Kay Kendall), Durward falls in love with her himself and wonders what sacrifice his chivalric code truly demands.
