In November 1995, Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin--who’d moved from the hawkish stance of his youth to active pursuit of peaceful coexistence with the Palestinians--was gunned down in Tel Aviv’s city square by a young Jewish extremist. Combining news coverage of the assassination and its aftermath with telling re-enactments, filmmaker Amos Gitai provocatively explores the government’s probe into the nation’s subculture of inflammatory political discourse that may have encouraged and enabled the tragedy. 156 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: Hebrew Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English. In Hebrew with English subtitles.
