Italian matinee idols Amedeo Nazzari and Yvonne Sanson star in this quartet of heated romantic melodramas from director Raffaello Matarazzo. In "Chains" (1949), the faithful wife (Sanson) of a mechanic (Nazzari) is pushed towards an infidelity with a criminal. With Aldo Nicodemi, Roberto Murolo. "Tormento" (1950) finds Sanson running to Nazzari's side to escape an abusive stepmother, but her troubles continue when Nazzari is charged with murder. Annibale Betrone, Mario Ferrari co-star. The epic saga of the romance between a count (Nazzari) and a poor miner's daughter (Sanson) begins in "Nobody's Children" (1952), when their love is targeted for destruction by her mother. With Françoise Rosay, Folco Lulli. Their story continues in "The White Angel" (1955), as the noble Guido (Nazzari) loses both Luisa (Sanson) and his son, only to find a woman who looks exactly like his late beloved.
