Rankin/ Bass TV Holiday Favorites Collection
(1976)
The young boy who played his drum for the Christ child must help Simeon the bellmaker spread the word in the wonderful animated sequel "The Little Drummer Boy, Book II" (1976). Greer Garson, Zero Mostel supply voices. Then, "The Stingiest Man in Town" (1978) is the Rankin/Bass studio's delightful cartoon adaptation of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," chronicling the greedy Ebenezer Scrooge's Yuletide change of heart. With the voices of Walter Matthau, Tom Bosley, Theodore Bikel, Dennis Day. Everyone's favorite little puppet boy gets into holiday trouble when his money for papa Geppetto's gift is stolen in the stop-motion Yuletide tale "Pinocchio's Christmas" (1980). Alan King, George S. Irving supply voices. Finally, a young boy stranded on a magic island helps a band of the "wee folk" save their loot from a banshee, in the stop-motion special "The Leprechauns' Christmas Gold" (1981). Features the voices of Art Carney and Peggy Cass. 148 min. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
