First, several made-for-television short films were edited together and released theatrically as "Rock 'n' Roll Revue" (1955), a rollicking compilation that features appearances by such stars as Duke Ellington, Big Joe Turner, Dinah Washington, The Clovers, Ruth Brown, Martha Davis, and more. Hosted by jazz bandleader and disc jockey Willie Bryant.

Then, see tremendous music and comedy captured live and hot at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, with "Rhythm and Blues Revue" (1955). Stars include Lionel Hampton, Herb Jeffries, Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Nat "King" Cole, Cab Calloway, Nipsey Russell, Mantan Moreland, and other sizzling stars of the mid-1950s.

Two-disc set also includes "Rock, Rock, Rock."
