Import Blu-ray/Region All pressing. ROUTE IRISH is a fast-paced conspiracy thriller that delivers a fresh insight into the moral and political corruption at play in Iraq. British director Ken Loach (LAND AND FREEDOM, THE WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY) returns with another gritty portrait of the futility of war. ROUTE IRISH is the story of life-long friends Fergus and Frankie, a pair that have been in each other's pockets since their first day of school. While Fergus' tour of Iraq, as a member of the SAS, had kept them apart, the recently resigned ex-soldier soon convinces Frankie to join him in Baghdad as a member of a private security team. While the £10,000-a-month salary and a chance to work with his friend drew Frankie to the troubled city, nothing could prepare him for the violence he would witness on daily basis. Each day the members of the security team would risk their lives, and in September 2007 Frankie would pay the ultimate price when he was killed on Route Irish, the world's most dangerous road.
