After discovering that her latest john is the man who caused her fall from a respectable life, a New Orleans prostitute (Dorothy Mackaill) leaves him for dead in a burning hotel room. Fleeing the rap with the aid of a sympathetic sailor (Donald Cook), she puts in at an extradition-proof Caribbean isle. The refuge proves only temporary, though, between the predation of the local lowlifes and the inexorable hauntings of her past. Spectacularly sordid pre-Code caper from William A. Wellman co-stars Nina Mae McKinney, Charles Middleton, Clarence Muse. 74 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
