British government employee Fred Jones (Ewan McGregor) is sent on a good will mission to fulfill a Yemeni sheikh's wish to bring salmon fishing to his desert nation. While making the impractical project work, Fred, who's estranged from his wife, begins to fall for the sheikh's consultant Harriet (Emily Blunt), whose soldier boyfriend is missing in action.
