In a small Canadian town, an orphan Catholic girl (Donna Corcoran) wanders into the home of Protestant local politician Patrick McChesney (Walter Pidgeon) and his wife Victoria (Greer Garson). The smitten, childless couple agrees to take her in and raise her within her own faith, but when Patrick's rivals accuse him of making the adoption for political gain, the new family's heartaches are just starting. The final Garson/Pidgeon screen pairing co-stars Agnes Moorehead. 90 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
