Free-spirited flapper "Egypt" Hagen (Billie Dove) didn't have much use for her small town's mores, but she didn't mind the attentions of the handsome new local minister (Raymond Bloomer) that her pious mom set after her. Despairing that his reputation would be tarnished by her, she accepted the proposal of a wealthy suitor (Huntley Gordon)--but the reverend might be her salvation after a horrific tragedy at sea.
