Don "Red" Barry stars in "Square Dance Jubilee" (1949), playing a New York talent scout who heads west to find new acts. Spade Cooley plays a cowboy singer who sends a stuntman to enter a rodeo in his name in order to save a financially troubled ranch, in "The Kid from Gower Gulch" (1949). "Hollywood Varieties" (1949) finds the art of vaudeville resurrected through television, as emcee Robert Alda introduces the Hoosier Hot Shots, Sandy and His Seals, and more. David Street gets into the "Holiday Rhythm" (1950) when a knock on the head sends him into a dream world where he sees stars such as Sid Mellon, Tommy Noonan, and others. "Everybody's Dancin'" (1950) so a dance hall proprietor (Richard Lane) recruits some country stars to boost business. A "Kentucky Jubilee" (1951) finds Jerry Colonna, James Ellison, and Jean Porter up to their necks in hillbilly acts that spice up a comic story; colorized version. The vaudeville era brings "Varieties on Parade" (1951) as a cast including Eddie Garr, Jean Carroll, and Jackie Coogan provides a night of nonstop entertainment. And, a young boy visits a home for aged minstrel performers and learns about the "good old days," in "Yes Sir, Mr. Bones!" (1951). 8 1/2 hrs. total on four discs.
