Follow the charming 19th-century exploits of Elisabeth of Bavaria, aka Sissi (Romy Schneider), in this beloved trilogy of Austrian historical romances. First, "Sissi" (1955) concerns the young arrival at court at the side of her sister, who is to be engaged to Emperor Franz Joseph (Karlheinz Böhm). The ruler, however, falls in love with Sissi instead! Uta Franz, Gustav Knuth co-star. "Sissi: The Young Empress" (1956) finds the new empress (Schneider) clashing with her mother-in-law (Vilma Degischer). Böhm, Knuth co-star.
Finally, "Sissi: The Fateful Years of an Empress" (1957) chronicles the Hungarian voyage taken by the beauteous Sissi (Schneider) and her battle against a crippling illness. Böhm, Degischer co-star. Five-disc set also includes "Forever My Love" (1962), an English-dubbed, condensed version of the three films, and "Victoria in Dover" (1954), starring Schneider in a romantic account of Queen Victoria's reign. 9 1/2 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtrack: German and English Dolby Digital stereo; Subtitles: English; featurette; theatrical trailers. In German with English subtitles/Dubbed in English.
