Sister Act (1992)
Hilarious habit farce with Whoopi Goldberg as Deloris Van Cartier, a tough-as-nails lounge singer who is forced into hiding after she witnesses a mob murder. Posing as "’Sister Mary Clarence" in a San Francisco convent, Deloris battles the uptight Mother Superior and tries to reorganize the traditional convent choir into a hip singing group, which, to everyone’s surprise, gains national attention. Maggie Smith, Harvey Keitel, Mary Wickes, and Kathy Najimy co-star. 100 min. C/Rtg: PG
Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit (1993)
After leading their choir to international acclaim, Deloris (Whoopi Goldberg) is asked by her singing sister pals to don the habit again in order to give choral lessons to delinquent youth in a San Francisco school. Can Deloris avoid an evil administrator out to reveal her true identity, while teaching the kids respect and some new tunes in time for the all-state competition? Kathy Najimy, Maggie Smith co-star; with future Grammy-winning singer Lauryn Hill. 107 min. C/Rtg: PG C/Rtg: PG
