After suffering a brain injury, self-centered English professor and widower Lawrence Wetherhold (Dennis Quaid) is prohibited from driving for six months. His adopted brother Chuck (Thomas Haden Church) volunteers as chauffeur, but his irresponsible nature frequently leaves Lawrence stranded.
