Based on the true story of Northern Irish prisoners who went on a hunger strike against their English captors in 1981, this powerful drama from director/co-scripters Terry George and Jim Sheridan ("In the Name of the Father") stars Helen Mirren as a widow whose son is among the striking inmates and who fights for their rights with other mothers.
