Brothers Johnny (Clark Gable) and Junior Davis (Robert Sterling) are newspapermen vying for good Samaritan and former reporter Paula Lane (Lana Turner) on the homefront at the outbreak of World War II. When Lane leaves for Indochina to cover a story and vanishes, the Davises temporarily put their rivalry aside to try and find her together.
