Fact-inspired oater stars Rod Cameron as Edward Beale, the soldier/explorer who sought to sell the U.S. Cavalry on the viability of camels as mounts through an Arizona-California desert expedition. The party faces hardships from lack of water to the constant threat of Indian attack, as well as the dubious motives of a doctor (John Ireland) and his lady friend (Joanne Dru) who signed on for the trek.
