Corrupt island governor Don Juan Alvarado (Walter Slezak) thought nothing of imprisoning Dutch sea captain Laurent Van Horn (Paul Henreid) on trumped-up charges. Alvarado comes to think twice after Van Horn sets up a prisoner revolt and escape, establishes himself as the pirate terror of the Caribbean, and kidnaps betrothed Contessa Francesca (Maureen O’Hara) for his own!
