Strangers in the Night

Director Anthony Mann's first film noir is the darkly romantic tale of a Marine sergeant (William Terry) eager to return home from overseas to finally meet the object of his affections: a woman he has fallen in love with from writing letters back and forth, but never actually met. The train ride home first brings him into contact with a beautiful doctor (Virginia Grey) headed for the same destination, where the soldier has more surprises yet in store.
