Jungle (2017)
In 1981, a thirst for adventure led young Israeli Yossi Ghinsberg (Daniel Radcliffe) to backpack his way through South America. He and his road companions (Alex Russell, Joel Jackson) made the acquaintance of a charismatic Austrian (Thomas Kretschmann) seeking to hunt gold deep within the uncharted Amazon...and embarked on a harrowing, ill-fated journey from which not all would return. Riveting Australian adaptation of Ghinsberg’s memoir co-stars Yasmin Kassim, Lily Sullivan. 115 min. C/Rtg: NR
6 Below: Miracle On The Mountain (2017)
In 2004, Eric LeMarque (Josh Hartnett)--a onetime Olympic hockey player who’d struggled with substance abuse--opted to go snowboarding alone in the High Sierras, where a sudden storm left him disoriented and lost. The harrowing week that followed, which found him clinging to survival on little more than what food he could forage and his own faith, is grippingly recounted in this absorbing adaptation of LeMarque’s memoir. Mira Sorvino, Sarah Dumont, Jason Cottle, Marty McSorely also star. 97 min. C/Rtg: PG-13
I Think We’re Alone Now (2018)
After an apocalyptic event, stoic librarian Del (Peter Dinklage) was the last person alive in his Hudson Valley hamlet, and possibly the world...and he seemingly wouldn’t have had it any other way. However, when a second survivor--effervescent loose-cannon teen Grace (Elle Fanning)--barrels into his quiet existence, he might find himself rethinking his comfort with isolation. Director Reed Morano’s provocative parable also stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Paul Giamatti. 99 min. C/Rtg: R
