After a decade's institutionalization over his belief that a demon is attacking him, retired NYC janitor Obadiah "Fish" Johnson (James Earl Jones) made his way west. Thinking herself freshly broken up--with long-dead composer Giacomo Puccini--Bay Area resident Poinsettia Cummings (Lynn Redgrave) headed south. Winding up in the same L.A. boarding house, their eccentric landlady (Margot Kidder) pushed these lost souls toward each other, in Charles Burnett's wistful, barely released dramedy. 108 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English; Subtitles: English; audio commentary; bonus film "The Final Insult" (1997); featurette; theatrical trailer.
