The Corn Is Green

In this moving made-for-TV adaptation of Welsh dramatist Emlyn Williams’ 1938 play, Katharine Hepburn plays Lilly Moffat, a British spinster teacher who attempts to educate a group of miners in turn-of-the-century North Wales. One of the young miners shows signs of true brilliance, and Moffat persuades him to continue his education. Hepburn’s tenth and final collaboration with director George Cukor co-stars Ian Saynor, Bill Fraser, Anna Massey, Toyah Wilcox. 93 min.
