Marlene Dietrich is at her best as Concha Pérez, a conniving seductress in 1890s Seville who seems to derive pleasure from men lavishing gifts and attention upon her, then destroying their lives. Cesar Romero is a young military officer warned by her former lover, Don Pasqual (Lionel Atwill), that Concha’s charms can only lead to disaster. The final collaboration between Dietrich and Josef von Sternberg, the film is is based on the same novel that inspired Buñuel’s "That Obscure Object of Desire." 80 min.
