Walter Huston made his final screen appearance in director Anthony Mann’s moody Western melodrama, playing T.C. Jeffords, a landowner in the 1870s New Mexico Territory eager to bequeath his property to daughter Vance (Barbara Stanwyck)--as long as she marries the "proper" man.
