After a drunken bender, high-profile attorney Geoffrey Sherwood (Ian Hunter) wakes up to discover he’s married to down-on-her-luck shopgirl Miriam Brady (Bette Davis), who had been paid $100 to keep him out of trouble. Despite their many differences, the unlikely couple tries to make their marriage work.
