SYNOPSIS:
This new adaptation of the classic novel and TV show The Darling Buds of May follows the warmhearted, wheeler-dealer adventures of the Larkin family in the Kent countryside of the 1950s. Ma (Joanna Scanlan) and Pop Larkin (Bradley Walsh) often deal with threats to their idyllic way of life but never take things lying down. The Larkins look to be in real trouble, however, when a government accountant is sent to investigate their tax affairs, but Cedric ‘Charley’ Charlton (Tok Stephen) proves to be kind and immediately smitten with their daughter Mariette (Sabrina Bartlett). Mariette, meanwhile, has another suitor—the suave, sophisticated Tom (Stephen Hagan)—as well as plans for her life that would take her far from the family farm.
