The Lucille Ball Collection (I Love Lucy / The Lucy Show / Life With Lucy) [Import]
I Love Lucy: The Complete Series (1951-1957)
In 1951, film actress Lucille Ball and her musician husband Desi Arnaz spent $5,000 to produce a TV sitcom pilot about a Cuban-born bandleader named Ricky Ricardo, his zany, starstruck wife Lucy, and their madcap life in a Manhattan apartment. The result was the decade’s biggest show and a landmark in TV history that ran until 1957. William Frawley and Vivian Vance co-star as the Ricardos’ best friends and neighbors, Fred and Ethel Mertz. 194 episodes. 90 hrs. BW/Rtg: TV-G
The Lucy Show: The Complete Series (1962-1968)
Through its 1962-68 run on CBS, Lucille Ball’s second sitcom went through several cast and format changes, but one thing remained constant: Lucy’s signature brand of slapstick comedy, which each week was wrapped around a special guest or crazy plot line. Co-stars Gale Gordon as Mr. Mooney, and Mary Jane Croft as Mary Jane Lewis. 156 episodes. 66 1/2 hrs. BW&C/Rtg: TV-PG
Life With Lucy: The Complete Series (1986)
Lucille Ball’s final foray into TV sitcoms came with this short-lived offering that aired on ABC. Widowed grandmother Lucy Barker (Ball) was determined to personally maintain her late husband’s half-interest in a hardware store, to the constant exasperation of his partner Curtis McGibbon (Gale Gordon). To compound matters, Lucy’s daughter (Ann Dusenberry) was married to Curtis’ son (Larry Anderson). Jenny Lewis, Philip Amelio, Donovan Scott also starred. 13 episodes. 5 1/2 hrs. C/Rtg: NR
