When boozing, washed-up, and wheelchair-bound author Monte Wildhorn (Morgan Freeman) is taken to a coastal town for the summer by his nephew (Keenan Thompson), hopes are high that the bitter scribe will rediscover the urge to create. Meeting a divorced mother (Virginia Madsen) and bonding with her children, Wildhorn gradually finds the ability to open up and once more begins crafting stories.
