The Man From Down Under

As he was shipping home from Europe after World War I, bluff but big-hearted Australian infantryman Jocko Wilson (Charles Laughton) connived to bring a pair of Belgian war orphans with him. As a generation passed, and conflict with Japan loomed, the old soldier had to cope with the heartaches facing his now-grown charges (Richard Carlson, Donna Reed) as well as his own bitterness over his rejected bid to re-enter military service.
