The Man With a Cloak

In 19th-century New York, a Frenchwoman (Barbara Stanwyck) must try to protect her fiancé's wealthy grandfather (Louis Calhern) from the scheming servants who want the old man dead so they can claim his riches. Her only help comes in the mysterious form of the title character (Joseph Cotten) who, despite his obvious fondness for alcoholic spirits, possesses a keen intellect that becomes an invaluable asset to Stanwyck.
