An encounter with Nathaniel Ayers (Jamie Foxx)--a homeless man playing a two-stringed violin on the streets of Los Angeles--leads journalist Steve Lopez (Robert Downey, Jr.) to write about the musician, a former Julliard prodigy suffering from schizophrenia.
