The first feature to be filmed in Hollywood, the silent western "The Squaw Man," co-directed by Cecil B. DeMille, concerns an Englishman (Dustin Farnum) who is forced to flee his homeland when he is accused of a crime that his brother committed. He settles into a new life in America and marries a beautiful Indian woman (Red Wing), but tragedy is not far behind. Then, DeMille finished out his pact with M-G-M by revisiting "The Squaw Man" in 1931, this time focusing on the relationship between the embattled British expatriate (Warner Baxter) and his Native-American bride (Lupe Velez).
