Mohammad Rasoulof, a documentary director, brings an appreciation for stark realism to his feature film debut, a naturalistic study of prison life in Iran. As a rehabilitative gesture, a male prisoner who is a repeat offender is permitted to marry a female inmate, and the two are allowed weekly visits. After becoming parents, they are released into normal society, totally unprepared for the realities of the outside world that can be just as harsh and unforgiving. 83 min.
