Atmospheric oater stars Robert Mitchum as American-born pistolero Martin Brady sent into the States by a corrupt Mexican governor (Pedro Armendáriz) to broker a gun deal. Fate finds Brady losing the rifles and breaking his leg, and he’s nursed back to health by the unhappy wife (Julie London) of the local Ranger topkick (Gary Merrill). Brady soon finds himself stuck between a murder charge north of the border and a vengeful boss below. Jack Oakie, Albert Dekker, and baseball great Satchel Paige co-star. 98 min.
