Situated in Central Texas along the Colorado River is a city known for it's eclectic style and diverse culture. As the capital of Texas, Austin is home to a music, art and food centered community that has shaped the city into one of the most interesting places to live in the United States. First, we take a peek into the Wild West as we learn about early cowboy life in the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum. We'll lasso some interesting facts about how the great state of Texas came to be. Next, we'll make ourselves comfortable at the picture-perfect Driskill Hotel. A wealthy cattle farmer constructed it in 1886 to be the "finest hotel south of St. Louis." Austinites love it's Romanesque architecture and ornate details. Of course, we couldn't help but take a peek at one of the most spectacular sites in Austin, the Texas State Capitol. We're keeping it weird in Austin, Texas on today's Travel Thru History.
