Two Women (aka La Ciociara) [Import]
(1960)
Sophia Loren won a Best Actress Oscar for her moving portrayal of Cesira, an Italian woman in WWII's waning days, who, along with her daughter Rosetta, leaves Rome to escape the devastation of the Allied bombing campaign. On their way to the village of Cesira's birth, the women are raped and left to die by Moroccan soldiers--a trauma that leaves her unsure of how to react to a man's sincere affections. Raf Vallone, Jean-Paul Belmondo co-star; Vittorio De Sica directs. 102 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: Italian; Subtitles: English. In Italian with English subtitles. Region Free
