Reprising her role from "Her Majesty, Mrs. Brown," Judi Dench stars as Queen Victoria in this unofficial sequel, based on the book by Shrabani Basu. The film follows the unexpected bond that formed between Victoria and Abdul Karim (Ali Fazal), a young Indian prison clerk who became a trusted servant of the aging monarch, and the disapproval with which their unlikely friendship was met by those closest to the Queen.
