In 1919, Australian farmer Joshua Connor (director/star Russell Crowe) is coping with his wife's recent suicide over the presumed deaths of their three sons during World War I's Battle of Gallipoli. Determined to bring his boys' bodies home to be buried, Connor embarks on a life-changing journey to Turkey where he develops a connection with a war widow (Olga Kurylenko) and her son (Dylan Georgiades), and learns that one of his sons may yet be alive.
