Way Down East (1920)

Lillian Gish gives a superb and authentic performance in the harrowing journey of the principle Anna Moore. Based on upon the celebrated stage play of the same name here is a tale of an innocent country girl who, deceived, has her virtue stolen. And yet her hardships have only just begun as the crime against her is a stain on her character making her a social pariah to any that might learn of her past.
