Originally screened in the UK in the summer of 2013 on Channel 4, this hour long documentary follows Bjork and David Attenborough as they investigate and discuss the connection which exists between music and nature. Narrated by Tilda Swinton and inspired by Bjork's technological project BIOPHILIA, which Attenborough provided a spoken introduction for the film is a unique encounter between 2 of the most iconic thinkers of our time. This is the first time the two have discussed their mutual love of music and the natural world on screen. BIOPHILIA explores where nature, music, and technology meets. Attenborough explains how music exists in the natural world and speaks about his own passion for music. Author and professor of neurology and psychiatry Oliver Sacks explains the extraordinary and beneficial effects music has on our brains and explains why performing and engaging with music is something all of US should take more seriously.
