Onboard a ship bound for the United States, a porter (Will Hay) impersonating a professor gets mixed up with a criminal stowaway (Edgar Kennedy) planning to kidnap a wealthy man's son. When the phony teacher is asked to handle the ransom, comic twists rock the boat, in "Hey! Hey! U.S.A.!" (1938). The adventure farce "Old Bones of the River" (1938), inspired by the writings of Edgar Wallace, stars Hay as a teacher assigned to open a school in colonial Africa. He's asked to fill in for a malaria-stricken Commissioner Sanders, but soon finds out how taxing tax collecting is! And when a sleepy English town's lack of crime leads to layoffs for its three-man police force (Hay, Moore Marriott, Graham Moffatt), the trio turns to staging crimes to preserve their jobs in "Ask a Policeman" (1939). 4 1/4 hrs. total on three discs. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono; photo gallery.
