Tecumseh Sparrow Spivet (Kyle Catlett) is a 10-year-old genius who lives with his eccentric folks on a remote Montana ranch. When a family tragedy is followed by word that one of T.S.'s inventions has earned him a prize from the Smithsonian Institute, the precocious lad hops a train and sets off on a solo cross-country odyssey to claim his prize.
